George Robert Stauffacher, Jr.

George Robert Stauffacher, Jr., 86, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, April 2, 2017.  He was born November 10, 1930 in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the son of George R. and Mabel (Olson) Stauffacher, Sr. He married Marlene R. Johnson February 1, 1949 in Clear Lake, South Dakota. She preceded him in death November 5, 2008. Before his retirement he worked for  Rath Packing for 35 years. George enjoyed his garden as well as camping and fishing. He and his wife, Marlene  enjoyed being Arizona snowbirds until her death in 2008. George continued spending his winters with his daughters in Arizona and Nevada.

George is survived by two sons, Eugene (Bernice) Stauffacher  of Cedar Falls and Roger (Susan) Stauffacher of Burlington, Iowa; two daughters, Vicky (Stan) Gorsh of Henderson, Nevada and Peggy (Craig) Jamerson of Peoria, Arizona; four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; one step brother, Robert (Marian) Frohn of Cedar Falls and one sister, Dorothy Giesel of Clear Lake, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, Marian Ruhd, and one step grand daughter.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to NEI 3A- Meals on Wheels and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
