GEORGE W. PEARCE
was born August 5, 1911, in Cody, Wyoming, the son of Joseph H. and Ora Mable (Williams) Pearce. He married Edith Lenora McCormick, January 15, 1938, in Osceola, Iowa. He and Edith farmed and raised turkeys and in 1963 began working for UNI in the custodial department, retiring in 1981. George died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls, Iowa, at the age of 91 years.
George is survived by his wife, Edith, of Cedar Falls; one son, Don W. (Emily) Pearce of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Charlotte (Louis) Smith of Cedar Falls and Janice Loftus and special friend Gerry Kirchberg of Evansdale, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Hiram Pearce and Donald (Darlene) Pearce, both of Waterloo, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry & Charlie Pearce; five sisters, Pauline Ducklow, Mary Schipplick, Lucille Fulk, and Darlene May and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003, at Washington Chapel Church with burial at Washington Chapel Cemetery, both in rural Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.
