George Louis Jenson, 86, of Cedar Falls, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Deery Suites. He was born April 15, 1939, in Dunkerton, son of Lee "Jake" and Dorothy (Harn) Jenson. George graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1957. He married Barbara Miller on June 6, 1959, in Fairbank and they had four children together, later divorcing. George married Norma (Johnson) Ohrt on April 7, 1989, in Cedar Falls. He worked as a machinist for John Deere for 31 years, retiring in 1997.
George was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory; grandson, Ryan; granddaughter, Zhenya; and his brother, Donald. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Norma; daughter, Leigh Anne (Dale) Schares of Gilbertville; sons, Dan (Larisa) Jenson of Bellevue, NE and Russ Jenson of Waterloo; Norma's children, Susan (Randy) Helling of Rochester, MN and Jeff (Lisa) Ohrt of Parkersburg; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
George's Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Visitation the evening prior from 5-7:00 pm at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, both of Cedar Falls. Per his wishes, he will be cremated following services and laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery in Dunkerton. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
George was an active member of the Dunkerton community, serving on the volunteer fire department, as a volunteer EMT, on the town council, as Mayor, as a member of the Lions Club and as owner of the D&G Tavern and Jenson Service Station. He enjoyed bowling and golfing with his friends. George and Norma enjoyed a lot of great years traveling including trips to New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. George was also a long term volunteer at Allen Hospital where he transported patients throughout the hospital.
