Geoffrey Alan Dunkelberg, 48, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born January 2, 1963 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of George A. and Nancy B. (Rogers) Dunkelberg. Geoffrey married Donna Boenig in October, 1986 at Fallon, Nevada and they were later divorced. He served in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1992 in the Persian Gulf. Geoffrey worked in maintenance at D C Industries in Waterloo.

He is survived by his parents, George and Nancy Dunkelberg, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Keith (Maryele) Boenig of Waterloo, Trevor (Alicia) Boenig of Waterloo, and Ronald (Courteney) Boenig of Decorah, Iowa; six grandchildren; one sister, Jeanne (Rob) Volgenau, of St. Louis, MO and a long time navy brother, Rick (Brandy) Wiener, of Waterloo.

Geoffrey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Jeanette Rogers, paternal grandparents, Floyd and Celeste Dunkelberg, and two cousins, Brian and Brenda McKee.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
