GENEVIEVE COON, was born April 7, 1908 in Laquin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. C. Melvin and Nellie M. (Brigham) Coon. She graduated form Athens, Pennsylvania High School in 1925 and from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1929. She did her internship in dietetics at the Albany, New York Medical Center. Genevieve worked at the Albany Medical Center from 1930 to 1939 and served as the Director of Dietetics from 1939 to 1951. She was subsequently employed as the Clinical Dietician at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania from 1951 until her retirement in 1973. Genevieve was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church, Milan, Pennsylvania, the United Methodist Women, the American Dietetics Assoc., the Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary, the Ladies Library Club in Athens, Pennsylvania and the American Assoc. of University Women. She died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at her home in Mallard Point Retirement Center in Cedar Falls, at 94 years of age.
Genevieve is survived by her sister, Mary Louise Kehr of Cedar Falls; one niece, Janet Flick and her husband Charles; two grandnephews, Robert and William Flick; one great-grandniece, McKenzie Flick and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no local funeral services or visitation. Her body was cremated. Inurnment will be at Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pennsylvania, at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Milan United Methodist Church, Milan, Pennsylvania or the charity of the donor's choice.
