Gene "Charlie" Pfalzgraf, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at UnityPoint Health Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. He was born March 10, 1936 in Cedar Falls, the son of George and Elenore (Thomas) Pfalzgraf. Gene married Judy Sorg on July 21, 1957 in Sumner, Iowa. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Gene worked at the Waterloo Courier Newspaper for eighteen years and at John Deere & Company for twenty-three years, retiring in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Judy Pfalzgraf, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Mark Pfalzgraf of Cedar Falls and Erich (Tammy) Pfalzgraf of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two daughters, Lisa (Dave) Fasse of Sachse, Texas and Michelle (Don) McNair of Shawnee, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a brother, George (Elaine) Pfalzgraf, of Cedar Falls. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 24:00 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
