Gary R. Odekirk, 70, of Cedar Falls, died at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, from complications of an aortic aneurysm.  Gary was born April 11, 1941 in Maynard, Iowa, the son of Arvid & Letha (Lauck) Odekirk.  He married Frances Maas July 26, 1964 in Lyle, Minnesota.  Gary graduated from West Central Maynard in 1960.  He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Works from September 1960 until retiring in 1997.  Since 2001, he was employed with Northeast Iowa Center for Independent Living (Primetime).  Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, watching football, and was a member of Pyrotechnics Guild International since 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Cedar Falls; one son, Roger (Kelli) Odekirk, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Pauline (Tim) Garrity, of Cedar Rapids and Debbie (fiancé Paul Colbert) Meyer, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Roy Odekirk, Clayton Meyer and Colton Colbert; two brothers, Dean (Connie) Odekirk of Indianapolis, Indiana and Wayne (Mary) Odekirk, of Waterloo; two brothers in law, Leo (Penny) Maas of Claremont, Minnesota and Lyle Maas of Cedar Falls; two sisters in law, Rosella (Dick) Krahn and Esther (Lloyd) Gerbig, both of Osage, and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his father & mother in law, Paul & Emma Maas; and his brother in law, PFC Roy Maas.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the church or Northeast Iowa Center for Independent Living.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
