Gary Baumgartner

Gary L. Baumgartner, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Gary was born November 20, 1942 in Lamont, Iowa, the son of Harold & Elsie (Smith) Baumgartner. He married Joan Kelley November 4, 1972 at St. John Lutheran Church, Dundee, Iowa. Gary was in management with Northwest Airlines retiring in 2001 and was actively involved with Cedar Falls High School class of 1960.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Baumgartner, his daughter, Melanie (Scott) Wirtz and his grandson, Carson Wirtz, all of Cedar Falls; two brothers in law, Mel Cunningham of Waverly, Iowa and Gary (Darla) Kelley of Adel, Iowa, and his sister-in-law, Jean Kono, of Independence.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Ann Cunningham.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church or the donor's choice.
