Garrott L Faulkner

Garrott LeRoy Faulkner, 86, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, February 4, 2011, in Mesa.  He was born April 1, 1924 in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Glen and Jessie (Hill) Faulkner.  Garrott married Jeree Taber on June 2, 1946 in Waterloo.  He graduated from Washington High School in Webster City and served in the US Army Medical Corps during WW II.  Garrott worked for John Deere & Company for thirty-three years, retiring in 1983.  He lived and farmed on an acreage in rural Parkersburg, Iowa for many years and later moved to Waterloo.  Garrott also played steel guitar and drums in a band at the Independence Senior Center, for his church, and charitable organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Jeree Faulkner, of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters, Scarlett D. (Douglas) Ohde of Grand Lake, Colorado and Rebecca A. (Charles) Kemmerer of Mesa; one grandchild, Heather  (Zachary) Warakomski, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and four sisters, Gleneva Ades and Velma Hollingshead, both of Webster City, Iowa, Mable (Gary) Pond and Sharon Apfel, both of Waterloo and one sister in law, Hilda Faulkner, of Waterloo.

Garrott was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Merlyn and Larry Faulkner.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.  Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.  Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Good Samaritan Society, 5848 E.
