Gail Corwin, who loved to be called Gammy by her granddaughters, departed her loving family on Friday, March 25, 2022. Gail loved her family and often told them, "If I could, I would hug you for an hour." Whoever got the amazing opportunity to meet her knew her love for her family because she would start talking about how great they are that you never got a chance to talk about your own.
Gail was born in Postville, Iowa on January 14, 1957, the daughter of Milfred and Lorraine (Peg) Schultz. Gail graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1976 (bicentennial year) and later attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology where she earned a degree in nursing. She was a nurse for Sartori Hospital taking care of in-home patients. Gail married the love of her life, Bill Corwin, on June 9, 1974 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.
Gail enjoyed helping in her community. For many years she was the president of the PTA and helped to bring the Boys and Girls Club to North Cedar Elementary School. She was also a girl scout leader for many years and sewed for the boy scouts. Gail also ran a sewing business from her home, sewing anything from a hem to a putting in an industrial sized zipper.
Gail is survived by her husband, Bill Corwin, two children, Carmin (Jeff) Stickfort of Cedar Falls, Adam (Jules Braun) Corwin of Denver, Colorado and three granddaughters; Claire, Callie and Cailin; and 4 furry grand doggies. She is also survived by her mother Lorraine (Peg) Schultz, her brother Gil (Dianne) Schultz, an uncle, aunts, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Milfred Schultz, her father and mother in-law William and Shirley Corwin, and her sister Debbie Holder.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30 at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 29 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery, Eldorado. Memorials may be directed to the family.
