Frank John Luchtenburg, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, November 19, 2015, at UnityPoint Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born December 10, 1920 in Wellsburg, the son of Sicko and Ella (Hippen) Luchtenburg. Frank married Marian Kiewiet August 12, 1948 in Holland. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Frank worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as an inspector for thirty five years, retiring April 1, 1977. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 158 for thirty years, was a member of the Cedar Valley Garden Club and had a passion for gardening. Frank and Marian were charter members of Orchard Hill Church.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marian Luchtenburg, of Cedar Falls; one son, Mark (Cindy) Luchtenburg, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Carol Weaver, of Clive, Kim (Kerry) Shackelford, of Waukee, and Lisa (Peter) Mueller, of Ankeny; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Don (Darlene) Luchtenburg, and one sister, Pauline (Lee) Arends, both of Grundy Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lillian Flater.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015, at Orchard Hill Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Garden, both in Cedar Falls. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Dahl-Van Hove -Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to Orchard Hill Church's new satellite church building in Grundy Center . Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
