Frances L. Schmidt

Frances L. Schmidt, 80, of Cedar Falls, died at her home on Thursday, October 25, 2012. She was born January 12, 1932 in Winside, Nebraska, the daughter of Louis and Vena (Klahn) Fink. Her family moved to Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska when she was a small child, where she grew up and attended schools. Fran married Carl Schmidt October 7, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He preceded her in death April 28, 1982. In June of 1968 the family moved to Cedar Falls. Fran worked for Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls until she retired at the age of 60. She is survived by two sons, Angelo (Sue) Schmidt of Cedar Falls and Carl Mike (Lynn) Schmidt of Janesville, Iowa; four daughters, Cynthia Diane (Dale) Castle of Waterloo, Barbara (David) Bruns of Cedar Falls, Carol (Cole) Kern of La Porte City, and Tammy Becker of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one sister, Louise Shannon, of Lombard, Illinois. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Frederick Fink, and one sister, Ruth Moffitt. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
