Frances Mohr, 93, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. She was born February 6, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Leo LaFayette (Buzzard) Butler. Frances married Milo Mohr on July 11, 1946 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in 1993. Frances was a graduate of Waterloo West High School and was a bookkeeper at Martin Brothers Distributing Company, and was owner and bookkeeper at Mohr Paint Company for many years, retiring in 1980.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Phil) Suggs, Sr., of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Heidi Wauters, Gretchen Wheeler and William (Amy) Gilowski; four great grandchildren, Analiese Wheeler, Brady Wheeler, Jacek Wauters and Haydin Wauters, and her sister, Joyce Quillin, of Hudson, Iowa.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son, Gary Mohr; a son-in-law, Kaz Gilowski; a brother, John Butler, and two sisters, Mary Deegan and Sally Hutchison.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the Western Home Communities Chapel, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the Western Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Assoication. Frances enjoyed dancing and singing while she did her housework. She also loved to read and spend time with her family.
