Floyd passed away peacefully in Cedar Falls on February 4, 2017 at the age of 95 after a brief illness. He was born in Vega, South Dakota and called Cedar Falls his home since 1957. He was married to Naomi for 48 years who predeceased him in 1994. He was also predeceased by his parents, brother Dale and longtime friend and companion of 20 years, Helen Walker.

Floyd was proud to have served in the Navy in World War II and enjoyed reunions with his Navy buddies for many years.

During his lifetime, Floyd was a track star in high school, worked at Boeing in Tacoma and built the B-17 aircraft, was in the Navy serving in the Pacific on an LST, a Fuller Brush Man, an insurance salesman and retired from John Deere in Waterloo.

He loved woodworking, making the most amazing trucks and cars, tables, cabinets of all types and an enormous roll top desk. He also loved to fish, hunt, golf, play cards and dance. He was an inventor of sorts who was always looking to re-purpose things. He also developed blueprints for homes in the Orchard Hill area including 2 homes that he and his family lived in including his home in Cedar Falls.

He is survived by his loving children; Valerie (Allen) Salsbury, Elzora (John) Dalrymple, Melinda (Sandy) Gonyaw, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Valois Masters and numerous friends, nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, MAY 13, 2017 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, visitation will be one hour before services. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park, Mason city.
