EWALD "OZZIE" DAMGAARD, 81, of Cedar Falls died Friday, September 2, 2005 at Sartori Memorial Hospital. Ozzie was born March 31, 1924 at Sorig, Denmark the son of Niels & Christine (Jakobsen) Damgaard. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Ozzie married Wilma "Billie" Koehler August 31, 1947 at Nazareth Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death May 20, 1985. He married Virgina Hyde Stover February 25, 1989 at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Ozzie owned and operated Ozzie's Phillips 66 in Cedar Falls from 1942 to 1956 then owned and operated Star Refrigeration in Waterloo for many years. He retired from John Deere in 1987 after fourteen years as a security guard. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Cedar Falls; one son, Thomas (Paula) Damgaard of Cedar Falls; one stepson, Rick Stover of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; two stepdaughters, Angela (Joe) Zielbauer of Waterloo and Tammy (Mike) Wahl of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Nicole and Mitch Damgaard; six step grandchildren, Kane Magee, Kacy Magee, Jolene Michalek, Ryan Day, Jason Day, and Kaylee Day; one sister, Marcella (Cliff) Trent of Cedar Falls and one niece, Vickie Trent of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one brother, Johannes Damgaard. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Nazareth Lutheran Church and burial in Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.  Memorials may be directed to Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp, Story City, Iowa.
