Evelyn R. Holtz

Evelyn R. Holtz, 92 of Cedar Falls, Iowa and formerly of Muskegon, Michigan, died Monday, December 3, 2018 at Western Home Communities-Nation Cottage in Cedar Falls. She was born January 21, 1926 in Temple, Texas, the daughter of and Albin & Anna (Stephan) Naivar. She graduated from Temple High School in 1944. Evelyn married Joseph Holtz on June 1, 1946 in Temple, Texas. They resided in Michigan for 48 years and moved to Iowa in 1996. He died December 22, 2000. She was a home-maker, department store associate worker, an avid bridge player and golfer. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She excelled in baking, canning and cooking and sewing.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Bruce) Plakke of Cedar Falls, five granddaughters, Emy (Tony) Monroe of Wisconsin, Elise (James) Plakke-Corbett of Colorado, Jodi (Chris) Courts of Georgia, Bethany (Eric) Anderson of Kansas and Lia (Bjorn) Soneson of Washington, 6 great-grandchildren, Luke, Isaac, and Levi Courts, James and Micah Corbett and Natalie Anderson.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Ward and Dorothy Nelson and a brother, Rueben Naivar.

A memorial service will be held in the future. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple, Texas. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
