Evelyn "Sue" Holst

Evelyn "Sue" R. Holst, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. Sue was born October 18, 1932, in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Laurence & Anna (Ulrik) Prostine. She married Martin T. Holst June 16, 1957 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death December 17, 2009. Sue received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and later studied at Iowa State University. She was a teacher for seven years and a Welcome Wagon Representative for 24 years, retiring in 1998. Sue was a member of Cedar Valley Danes, the Woodland Investment Club and was a charter member of the Altrusa Club of Cedar Falls. Survivors include her four sons, Martin P. (Lauren) Holst of Cedar Falls, John C. (Dina) Holst of Saratoga, California, Paul D. (Andrea) Holst of Cedar Falls and David T. (Jennifer) Holst of West Des Moines; six grandchildren, Gwendolyn Holst, Jeremy Holst, Paige King, Thor Holst, Wolfgang Holst and Tyr Holst; and two brothers, Robert (Loretta) Prostine of Marion, Iowa and Herluf (Loris) Prostine of New Hartford, Iowa. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one brother, Kenneth Prostine and one nephew, Scott Prostine. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
