Evelyn E. Church

Evelyn E. Church, 85, of Grundy Center, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa. She was born August 21, 1931 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Arnold) Siepert. Evelyn married Ernest Wiesley on April 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death on October 21, 1971. She married Walter Church on October 18, 1975 in Cedar Falls. Walt preceded her in death on January 14, 2012. Evelyn graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) with a teaching degree in Home Economics, and taught home economics at Orange Township for several years. She then worked for 19 years in the Admissions Office at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1995. Evelyn was past member of the Cedar Falls American Legion Auxiliary, the Cedar Falls Woman's Club, El Kahir Shrine, Janesville Eastern Star and the UNI Alumni Club.

She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Nemmers of Eagen, Minnesota and Dee Dee (Dave) Robeson of Grundy Center, Iowa; her step son, Rick (Nancy) Church of Fairfield, Connecticut and her step daughter, Paula Amberfield of Bainbridge Island, Washington; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and her sister, Marion Riordan, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her brother, Donald Siepert, and her sister, Carol Renner.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. June 17, 2017, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
