Ethel Mae Schneider

Ethel Mae Schneider, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born January 22, 1921 in Cedar Falls, the daughter of John and Mary (Krogh) Nelson. Ethel graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1938 and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) for two years. She married Joseph W. F. Schneider on August 29, 1942 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2008. Survivors include a son, Wayne J. (Paula) Schneider, of Burlington, Vermont; a daughter, Joan Mitchell, of Kalispell, Montana; three grandchildren, Erik and Kevin Friesen of Winnipeg, Canada, and Ashley (Derek) Elliott of Waterloo, Iowa, and a sister, Irene Nielsen, of Mabel, Minnesota. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Jane Friesen, and one sister, Helen Nelson. Services will be 10:30 am Friday, December 28, 2012, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 46:00 pm Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to family.
