Esther Louise Westendorf

Esther Louise Westendorf, 97, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Sumner, died Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Deery Suites. She was born July 18, 1921, in rural Sumner, the daughter of Bernard and Meta (Mundt) Schnadt. Esther married Edwin F. Westendorf September 1, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Buck Creek. He preceded her in death February 4, 2000. She worked along the side of Edwin helping on the farm and taking care of the children. Esther enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, playing cards was a favorite past time. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Esther is survived by one son, Gary (LaVonne) Westendorf, of Denver; two daughters, Myrna (Larry) Bone, of Brandon, South Dakota, and Glenda (Russ) Potratz, of Cedar Falls; eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; and one sister, Marlys (Steve) Reuter, of Sumner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two grandsons, Russell Westendorf and Scott Heiple.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 .at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Oran, Iowa, with visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral   Home in Cedar Falls .
