ESTHER LILLIAN MEINDERS was born May 18, 1905 the daughter of Edward and Ione (Thompson) Wiese at Lincoln, Iowa. She married Richard F. Meinders August 18, 1928 at Storm Lake, Iowa. He died March 19 1980. Esther retired from the University of Northern Iowa as a housekeeper in 1971. Esther died Friday May 9, 2003 at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center at the age of 97 years.
Esther is survived by one son, Thomas R. (Melanie) Meinders of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Lois Jean (William) Slaba of Waverly, Iowa and Joell (Don) Hansen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; nine grandchildren, William Edward Slaba, Debra Pressley, Diane Larson, Denise Reuther, Doyle Hansen Douglas Hansen, Thomas Rex Meinders, Whitney Rose & Robert Thomas Meinders; twelve great grandchildren, Bri, Alli & Ben Pressley, Mitch & Emmie Larson, Cam & Kirby Reese, Kyle Reuther, Olivia Hansen, Amy, James & Ken Slaba. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert & Gilman Wiese and one grand daughter, Linda Slaba.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.
