ESTHER K. JEPSEN JOHNSON was born August 7, 1906 in Dike, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Oline (Jensen) Sorensen. She married Ernest E. Jepsen in August of 1926. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1955. Esther then married Arthur W. Johnson on November 29, 1957 at Fredsville Lutheran Church. He died on October 20, 1994. Esther was graduate of Dike High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She was a teacher and later a clerk at the Registrar's Office at the University of Northern Iowa. Esther was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church, Business Professional Women and the Eastern Star. She died Sunday, November 2, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at 97 years of age.
Esther is survived by two sons, Roger (Dee) Jepsen of Port Charlotte, Florida and Myron (Bertie) Jepsen of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Carol (James) Nymann of El Paso, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; a brother, Orla Sorensen and a granddaughter, Linda.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Fredsville Lutheran Church with burial at Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church or the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
