Esther Hansen Hesse, 85 of Waterloo, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Country View in Waterloo. She was born April 16, 1922, in Cresco, Iowa, the daughter of Carl F. and Anna (Buri) Hein. She married Paul G. Hansen August 30, 1946. They owned and operated Paul's Tavern in New Hartford for several years. She continued to operate the business after Paul's death on August 10, 1959.
She is survived by her daughter, Pauline (Robert) Nieman of Denver, Iowa and two grandchildren, Dustin and Nicole Nieman, and one sister, Lora Naudzius of Henderson, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at the Dahl-Van Hove– Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at the funeral home. Memorial may be directed to the family.
