Ervin H Christian

Ervin H. Christian, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.  He was born January 29, 1919 near La Porte City, Iowa, the son of Herbert A. and Lora G. (Harmon) Christian.  Ervin married Elizabeth M. Walker on February 20, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa.  She preceded him in death on October 28, 2001.  Ervin farmed in Black Hawk County for many years, retiring in 1991.

Survivors include his daughter, Carmen (George) Gutmann, of Ames, Iowa and his son, Donald (Linda) Christian, of Waverly, Iowa, four grandchildren, Stacia Axon, Eric Christian, Renee Murray and Rhonda Toll, and four great grandchildren, Amber and Jacob Axon, Alexis Toll and Shawn Murray.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sisters, Helen Kaler, Norma Craft and Beulah Klenk.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 4, 2010, at  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo.  Visitation will be 3—7:00 pm Wednesday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
