Erika Hurst

Erika A. Hurst, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.  Erika was born October 28, 1936 in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of Emil & Rita (Rudolf) Pitzman.  She married Donald Hurst September 3, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.  She was employed with Woolverton Printing and was a courier for Corporate Express.  Erika was a Captain with the Red Cross and also helped as a disaster volunteer.  She was President of the Jeep Club, Sportsman 4x4.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Hurst of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Cindy (Tim) Hersey of Cedar Falls; three sons, Ronald (Diana Huisman) Hurst of Cedar Falls, Kevin (Dawn) Hurst of Janesville and Mark (Teresa) Hurst of Denver, Iowa; seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one step great grandson, and her brother, Herb (Jackie) Pitzman of Huntley, Illinois.

Erika was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Renee.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church.   Memorials may be directed to the Red Cross Disaster Team.
