ELSIE MARTHA ROGERS, 93, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday, November 26, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa. She was born February 3, 1913 in Benton County, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Martha (Haines) Larson. Elsie graduated from Blairstown High School and attended the Normal School (UNI). She married Hugh George Rogers September 5, 1936 in Van Horne, Iowa. He died in March of 1974. Elsie taught in country schools and was a librarian for the Cedar Falls Public Library for fifteen years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Happy Thought Rebekah Lodge # 256 and the Blue Star Mothers.
Elsie is survived by one son, Athol (Jeanne) Rogers, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Phyllis Tellinghuisen of Janesville, Iowa, Wanda (Edward) McDowell and Karen (John) McCabe, both of Cedar Falls; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd (Lola) Larson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and one sister, Bessie Ross, of Shell Rock, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Lawrence Larson and one sister, Edith Rassmussen.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, with interment at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5—8:00 pm Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
