Elmer Cawelti, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born March 22, 1912 at Alta Vista, Iowa, the son of Charles and Emma (Parman) Cawelti. Elmer married LaVerne "Beany" Edwards on August 11, 1937 in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1963. He married Jane Burns on September 9, 1978 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death in 1999. Elmer was a salesman for Standard Oil, retiring in 1967. He later worked as a custodian at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1977.
Survivors include his son, Scott (Angeleita Floyd) Cawelti, of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Blaine Joseph Cawelti, Jeremiah Cawelti, Christa (Max) Folkers and Jason (Caroline Corgiat) Cawelti; four great-grandchildren, Gus and Layla Folkers, Jeffrey Corgiat Cawelti, and Peyton Cawelti and a daughter-in-law, Connie Gosselink, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a son, Jim Cawelti, and three brothers, Ralph, Harley and Les Cawelti.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with interment at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 6—8:00 pm Friday, February 29, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
