Elly Eddy

Elly Ingeborg Eddy, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. Elly was born March 27, 1925 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred & Jensina (Thomsen) Hansen. She married Gordon L. Sorensen July 27, 1944, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death in 1969. She married Everett I. Eddy December 2, 1974 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death in 2008. Elly was a homemaker most of her life but worked at Bolin's Grocery Store in the early 1970's. Elly loved her family and always enjoyed family gatherings. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Rosie) Sorensen and Bruce (Jessie) Sorensen, both of Cedar Falls, a daughter-in-law, Jill (Gene) Dietrich, of Marengo, Iowa; six grandchildren, Gordie (Lynette) Sorensen, Gerald (Stephanie) Sorensen, Jeremy (Michelle) Sorensen and Shari (Tad) Ritter, all of Cedar Falls, and Jeff (Clara) Sorensen, of Texas and Brad (Laurie) Sorensen, of Waukee, Iowa; 19 great grandchildren, Heather (Zeb) Nicholson, Ashley Sorensen, Samantha Sorensen, Andrew Sorensen, Claire Sorensen, Hayley Ritter, Tyler Sorensen, Dalton Dickinson, Austin Dickinson. Erik Sorensen, Ryan Ritter, Marley Sorensen, Kyle Sorensen, Aiden Sorensen, Olivia Sorensen, Emilie Sorensen, Sophia Sorensen, Blythe Sorensen, Vivian Sorensen; two great grandchildren, Quentin Nicholson and Alice Nicholson; and a brother-in-law, Eugene "Bud" Eddy. Elly was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; one son, Leroy Sorensen, and two brothers, Leo and Elmer Hansen.
