ELLA M. FREDRICKSEN, 91, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born January 18, 1913 at Keystone, Iowa, the daughter of W.F.A. and Emma (Alberts) Rabe. She married George Barnard on June 16, 1935 at Nashua, Iowa. They were later divorced. George died on May 5, 1998. Ella married Francis Fredricksen on February 8, 1964 at Cedar Falls. He preceded Ella in death on October 5, 1989. Ella was a 1930 graduate of New Hampton High School, New Hampton, Iowa and was a 1931 graduate from Gates Business College. She was a long-time businesswoman, associated with Diamond Brothers, Townsend & Merrill Lumber Company, Barnard Sport & Electric, Cedar Falls Community Schools and McIntee and Sons, Inc. Ella was a charter member and past president of the Cedar Falls Business and Professional Women's Club, past District Director and Federation Manual Chairwoman and treasurer of the Iowa Federation of Business and Professional Women. She served many years as secretary-treasurer of the Cedar Falls Riverfront Commission and was a member of the Cedar Falls Boat Club. Ella also served as president of the Cedar Falls Association of Educational Secretaries and as secretary-treasurer for the Foreign Student Organization. She was active in P.T.A., Bible School, Cub Scouts and Brownies. Ella was also a member of the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, Goodwill Auxiliary, Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church of Cedar Falls. Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Wes) Weissman of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Sharyn Barnard of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Travis (Anji) Barnard and Timothy (Sara) Barnard, both of Cedar Falls, Darin (Gretchen) Ingalls of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Angie Kirkpatrick of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sarah (Danny) Stokes of Cedar Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Drew and Tyler Kirkpatrick, Bailee, Regan and Aiden Ingalls, and Emma and Sydney Stokes; two step-great-grandchildren, Spencer and Tristen Woodburn; four sisters, Alma Pietan, Emma Hagedorn and May Rogers, all of New Hampton, Iowa, and Minnie Zwanziger of Fredericka, Iowa, and a brother, Henry Rabe of New Hampton. Ella was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Allan A. Barnard; three sisters, Bertha Rabe, Edna Schmidt and Louise Beck, and a brother, William Rabe. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Memorials may be directed to The Sartori Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Ambulance Fund.
