Ella June Eckhoff, 84, of Cedar Falls, died of natural causes on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born June 14, 1923 near Fern, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Ella (Syhlman) Everts. Ella married Harlon Eckhoff on January 11, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She attended country school near Parkersburg, Iowa, and was a waitress for several years at area restaurants. Ella loved her family and was much loved by her neighbors and friends. She enjoyed her flower garden and watching the world go by as she sat outside her home.

Survivors include her husband, Harlon, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Linda (Jim) Sterling of Liberty, Missouri and LuAnn (Tom) Ray of Cedar Falls; four sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Eckhoff and Calvin (Cindy) Eckhoff, both of Cedar Falls, Wayne (Karen Gray) Eckhoff, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Wendell (Sue) Eckhoff of Stewartville, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; a brother, Lester (Hazel) Everts, of Cedar Falls, and a sister, Tina (Warren) Berhends, of Traer, Iowa.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jimmy Lee Eckhoff, and a half brother, Alvin Syhlman.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Saturday, March 15, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with interment at 4:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be 4—8:00 pm Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
