Elizabeth Adelaide "Addy" Van Steenbergen
Schou, 100, of Cedar Falls, Iowa died February 25 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
She was born June 17,1905 in Clearwater, MN to Garrett and Johanna Elizabeth (Stegemann)Van Steenbergen. The family moved to Boydon, IA where Adelaide received her primary education. The family later moved to Sheldon, IA where she graduated from high school. She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and then went to Grinnell were she graduated in 1930 in business. She served as a dean of women in Syracuse, NY and taught at Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam, WI. Adelaide then taught commercial courses at Marion, IA for six years. She married Johannes B. Schou July 23, 1944 at Nazareth Lutheran in Cedar Falls. The Schous farmed in Kenmare, ND where a son John Bertel was born in 1946, and where Johannes died in 1969. Adelaide lived there until she moved to Iowa to be with son and wife Diane and grandson Paul. In November 1998 she moved into the Lutheran Home.
Survived by: a son, John Bertel in Cedar Falls, a grandson Paul, in MI.
Preceded in death by: parents,sister Berneice Shaltanis of Freeman, SD.

at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel with inurnment later in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Kenmare, ND.
