Elizabeth Allene Rittgers

Elizabeth "Liz" Allene Rittgers, of New Hartford, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo.  She was born July 16, 1936 in New Hartford, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther Ballhagen Rittgers.  Liz graduated from New Hartford High School in 1954.  She was employed at the University of Northern Iowa as a secretary and the Waverly Sale Barn restaurant.  Liz kept busy with many craft projects.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlotte and Ardith Rittgers of New Hartford; two brothers, Donald Rittgers of Shell Rock and Ralph (Arlene) Rittgers of Nevis, Minnesota.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Esther Rittgers; her sister, Gladys Elliott; two brothers, Eugene and Merle Rittgers; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday, January 10, 2022, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford.  Visitation will be one hour before service.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Service will be livestreamed at https://evt.live/elizabeth-rittgers.
