ELIZABETH NUGENT, 95, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Ft. Dodge and Newton, Iowa, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the Cedar Falls Western Home, of natural causes. She was born May 1, 1905 in rural Cedar Falls, the daughter of Mads and Karen Marie (Andersen) Madsen. Elizabeth married Robert Nugent on November 19, 1934 in Ft. Dodge. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1966. She was a graduate of Pitze's Beauty School in Waterloo, Iowa and owned and operated a hairstyling salon for many years in both Newton and Ft. Dodge. Elizabeth and her husband also owned a gift shop in Ft. Dodge.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin Madsen and his wife Henriette of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a brother, Nels Madsen, and four sisters, Julia Johnson, Anna Lynn, Elna Casebeer and Esther Thompson.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Cemetery in Ft. Dodge. Memorials may be directed to the church and the Cedar Falls Western Home.
