ELEANOR RAE (KREUSSEL)
WHEATON was born September 22, 1918 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Sigmund G. & Evelyn P. (Sherrer) Kreussel. She married Walter Lee Wheaton November 5, 1941 at Lamont, Iowa. He died February 16, 1998. Rae was an English Professor at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa retiring in 1974. She was Past President of the Cedar Falls Women's Club and held memberships in various organizations including PEO Chapter FV, Tuesday Club, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Rae died following a brief illness Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home at the age of 85 years.
Survivors include one son, Bruce (Erin Altheide) Wheaton of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter, Diane (Edward) Barnett of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and four grandchildren, William Wheaton, Johanna Wheaton, Andrew Barnett and Michael Barnett.Rae was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorial services were 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Cedar Falls with inurnment at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Campton Cemetery at Lamont, Iowa. A memorial fund will be established.
