Edwin H. Madsen, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. Edwin was born July 16, 1916, in Cedar Falls, the son of Mads & Karen (Andersen) Madsen. He married Genevieve Nordskog April 20, 1940. She preceded him in death March 22, 1968. He married Henriette Muller February 14, 1976 in Cedar Falls. Edwin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo for forty years, retiring as Personnel Manager in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Henriette (Henree), of Cedar Falls; his son, David (Sandy) Madsen, of Brentwood, Tennessee; his daughter, Mary (Randy) Schmidt, of Cedar Falls, two grandchildren: Laura (Aleks) Kivilaan and Amy (Steve) Ross; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; one brother, Nels Madsen; and five sisters, Julia Johnson, Anna Lynn, Elna Casebeer, Esther Thompson, and Elizabeth Nugent.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home Foundation.
