EDWARD L. "EDDIE" OLDANI, 67, of Cedar Falls, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005 in the care of his family and loved ones at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, due to complications of diabetes, after several years of dealing with the side affects of the illness. Eddie attended Soldan-Blewett and Ladue High Schools in St. Louis, Missouri before joining the U.S. Marine Corps (1954-1958) seeing service in Lebanon, Southeast Asia and El Toro Marine Air Base in California. He earned the rank of Sgt. E-5. Ed was a private business owner for 45+ years and resided in St. Louis, Los Angeles and Cedar Falls, Iowa. Pre-deceased in life by his mother and father, Geraldine and Joseph Oldani and his first wife Marilyn Sue (Katzman) Oldani, who passed away from a tragic accident. Eddie is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 42+ years, Beverly June (Elliott-Martin) Oldani; his sons, Steven (Sue) Oldani of Waterloo and Dustin Oldani of Cedar Falls, and his daughter, Trisha Oldani of Wellington, Florida; two grandchildren, Mitchel Joseph and Jenna Marie; his brother, Jerry (Phyllis) Oldani of Bellevue, Washington; and a host of other relatives who mourn his loss but are proud of the dignity, courage and the brave way he passed from this earth. He is at peace with the world, his conscience, and we applaud his bravery and concern for those around him until the very end. "He did it his way." Memorial services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, where military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, in Eddie's name, to Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, Iowa or the American Diabetes Association. He will be missed and remembered!
