Edward Jamosky

Edward V. Jamosky, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He was born February 14, 1924 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Sarah (Bielski) Jamosky. Edward married Alice Merz on August 10, 1950. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan. He retired from the University of Northern Iowa as Professor Emeritus, after 30 years of service. Edward was a member of the U.S. Naval Institute and the ACLU. He is survived by his wife, Alice Jamosky, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Petr (Jirina) Jamosky of the Czech Republic and Michael Jamosky of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Valerie (Robert) Leonard, of Englewood, Colorado; five grandchildren, Daniel and Ivana Kyselka, and Michael, Rachel and Jordan Leonard; a sister, Virginia Vanderwalker, of Downers Grove, Illinois, and a niece, Lorrie Raia, of Huntington Beach, California. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Henry, Felix, Mike and Leonard "Lee" Jamosky, and a sister, Pauline. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.
