Edith E. Johnson, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She was born November 18, 1920 in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Henry Hoy and Dagmar Dorothea (Petersen) Jessen. Edith was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and worked in the Kitchen Service at Sartori Memorial Hospital for many years. She also sold Avon Products and was involved in the Senior Companions program. Edith was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy Johnson of Acworth, Georgia and Judi Lohman of Tucson, Arizona; her son, Steven (Lori) Johnson, of Dike, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Allison (Ward) Durant, Jamee (Ray) Benson, Casee (Jason) Boose, Derek and Adam Johnson, Erica Rundhaugh and Elizabeth Lohman; nine great grandchildren, Claire and Catherine Durant, McKinna, Patric and Peyton Benson, Laith and Shereen AlShawwa, Kayla and Noah Boose, and a brother, Ovie (Erma) Jessen, of Springdale, Arkansas. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helga Mikkelsen and Dagney Clark, a brother, Jess Jessen, and an infant brother. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday until service time at the chapel. A memorial fund will be established.
