Dwight Ferris

Dwight L. Ferris, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born January 28, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Leo & Alice (Walker) Ferris. He married Dona Hilton September 1, 1950 in Washington, D.C. She preceded him in death April 19, 2012. Dwight served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a supervisor at John Deere, retiring in 1984. Survivors include two sons, Dan (Cindy) Ferris, of Waterloo, Iowa and Don (Lori) Ferris, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Vicki (Galen) Beier, of Marshalltown, Iowa and Pam (Dennis) Huffman, of New Hartford, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one brother, Richard Ferris and one sister, Beverly Lynch. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at First Christian Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service time at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
