Duane Allen Eastman, 72, of Cedar Falls (formerly of Janesville) passed away at UPH/Allen Hospital following a brief illness on Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born in Osage, November 29, 1952, son of Homer and Nelda (Betts) Eastman. Duane graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1971, then attended Hawkeye Tech to study Diesel Mechanics. On October 21, 1972, he married Phyllis Robinson at the Janesville United Methodist Church. Duane worked for John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 2005, then drove truck for DP Trucking.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Denise Eastman; 3 brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis; sons: Dale (Kimberly) of Janesville, Phillip (Theresa) of Atkins, Denton (Laura) of Marion, and Patrick (Karen) of Janesville; 9 grandchildren: Kennedy, Keegan, Jason, Brady, Paige, Grayson, Claire, Everly, Grant, and 3 step-grandchildren. Siblings: Leslie Smith, Larry (Teresa Burns) Eastman, Melanie (John) Warburton, Melissa (Paul) Kinnetz, Kyle Eastman, Mary Alice (Gary) Anthony and Velsie Lay; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Duane's visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Finchford Community Bible Church. Burial will follow at Finchford Cemetery, with a luncheon at FCBC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
Duane was a devoted family man, whose love and commitment to his family were evident in everything he did. He and Phyllis, welcomed family and friends into their home over the years, always offering a place of comfort and support. Duane's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, attending their many activities and cherishing every moment with them.
A man of strong faith, Duane's love for the gospel guided his life and strengthened his relationships with those around him. His big heart extended to everyone he encountered, always offering a helping hand to anyone. His mechanical skills were unmatched as he could fix just about anything. Duane was an avid fan of Hawkeye wrestling and loved boating on Clear Lake, where he made lasting memories with family.
A hard worker at heart, Duane took pride in providing for his loved ones. Above all, Duane's greatest reward in life was the love and well-being of his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
