Dorothy Ann Newberry

Dorothy Ann Newberry, 86, of Cedar Falls, died at her home on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from Alzheimer disease. She was born December 11, 1930 in Waterloo, the daughter of Henry James and Amy M. (Share) Yount. Dorothy married Donald E. Newberry June 17, 1951 at Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He preceded her in death September 1, 2006. She graduated from West High School in Waterloo, Hawkeye Tech and UNI. Dorothy worked for eight years at Waterloo Savings Bank and was a RN-BSN Nurse. She worked at the ER unit at Covenant Medical Center for thirty-two years. Dorothy was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Paula Newberry, of Cedar Falls and one son, Timothy Newberry (Ray D. Shaffer Jr.-Newberry), of Scottsdale, Arizona, and one grandson, Hayden D. Shaffer-Newberry, of Scottsdale.

She was preceded in death  by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Richard W. Yount.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral and one hour before services at the church.
