Dorothy L. Muir

Dorothy Luella Muir, 95,of Cedar Falls, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Western Home Elizabeth Martin Center. Dorothy was born July 15, 1916 in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Axel and Gertrude Mae (Hersey) Jochumsem. She married H. Rex Muir September 26, 1937 in Manchester, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 6, 1980. She married Millard W. "Mac" McCoy January 7,1984 and he preceded her in death September 1, 1994. Dorothy graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1935 and attended Gates Business College. She was an accountant and worked for Hughes Dry Goods Store form 1937 to 1943, Albrecht Hatchery from 1943 to 1968, and for Wendell Lockard Construction from 1968 to 1983 when she retired. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church, fifty year member of O.E.S. # 98 in Cedar Falls and the Waterloo Elklets Lodge # 1. She is survived by one brother, William T. Jochumsen, of Cedar Falls, a niece, Pamela (Chuck) Chrisman of Ojai, California, and many other nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Rex Muir and Mac McCoy, and one sister, Wilma Mae "Billie" Brewster. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, January 9, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 35:00 pm Sunday, January 8, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church.
