Dorothy Mueller

Dorothy Mueller, 73, of Dike, Iowa, died at home on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She was born August 3, 1935 in Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Renate (Hoppenworth) Henning. Dorothy married Duane Mueller on January 12, 1958 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. She was a graduate of Tripoli High School and farmed with her husband near Sumner, Iowa. Dorothy also worked at the Midwest Turkey Hatchery at Dike for fifteen years and later was co-owner of D & D Foods in Dike, retiring in 1998. She was a volunteer for the Dike/New Hartford School Lunch Program for many years, and was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, Duane, of Dike; three daughters, Diane Hansen of Cedar Falls, and Debra (Kevin) Hemmen and Dawn (John) Dwyer, both of Dike; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a brother, Darrell (Doris) Henning, of Sumner.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Virgil Henning.

Services will be 10:00 am Friday, June 26, 2009, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with burial at Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 3—7:00 pm Thursday, June 25, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
