Dorothy G. Meyerhoff, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, May 2, 2011, at NewAldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls. Dorothy was born November 18, 1923, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick & Ella (Miller) Schoof. She married Richard Meyerhoff in 1944 in Waterloo. They later divorced. Dorothy attended a one room school and graduated from Dunkerton High School. She received a B.A. and an M.A. in business education from the University of Northern Iowa. Dorothy was a teacher at Cedar Falls High School for nine years and a tax preparer for 35 years. Her memberships include Friends of the Library Board, the American Association of University Women, the Cedar Falls Women's Club, the Girl Scouts of America Board and the State Board of the Iowa PTA.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Meyerhoff of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Katy (Al) Meyerhoff-Schares of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Olivia Schares and Henry Schares; and a sister in law, Bonnie Schoof of Corona, California.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gordon Schoof.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church.
