Dorothy Engleman

Dorothy M. Engleman, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born June 19, 1925 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William W. & Hazel Mae (Cooper) Jacobs. Dorothy married Robert Engleman on July 20, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1995. Survivors include a son, Jerry (Rhonda) Engleman, of Waterloo; three daughters, Robin (Bruce) Enberg of Dulce, New Mexico, Kathleen (Darrel) Porter and Kim Pierce, both of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Katie (David) McKenzie, Ben (Jessica) Pierce, Eric Enberg, Christopher Pierce, Cody Engleman and Elizabeth Pierce; two sisters, Ruth Hammar of Holt, Michigan and Ruby Samuelson of Lansing, Michigan; and a half sister, Susan Nordstrom of Crescent, Iowa. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son in law, David Pierce, and a brother, Charles Jacobs. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church or family.
