DOROTHY A. DUNDIS was born December 23, 1914 at Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, the daughter of Lewis and Bessie (Mitchell) Beaton. She married Alphonse B. Dundis on February 8, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1973. Dorothy was a 1933 graduate of West High School in Waterloo and was a buyer for the Younkers Department Store, for 27 years, retiring in 1980. She and her husband lived in Des Moines, Iowa for many years, where Dorothy was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital and was a member of Highland Park Christian Church. Dorothy died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at 86 years of age.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Dundis, and his wife Jo, of Glenview, Illinois; a brother, Jack Beaton of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Evelyn Beaton; four nephews, Michael, Charles, Larry and Rex Beaton; two nieces, Linda Horra and Kathy Hamer, and many cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and a brother, Hilliard Beaton.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association and Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines.
