Dorothea E Baskins

Dorothea Evelyn Baskins, 83, of Waverly, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Dorothea was born July 10, 1923 at Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Roy & Merie (Johnson) Wyatt. She married Keith Baskins May 1, 1964 at Hudson Community Church in Hudson, Iowa. Dorothea was employed by Northwestern Bell for 35 years, retiring November 3, 1981. She was past Matron and secretary of Equity Chapter 6, Order of the Eastern Star, in Janesville for 28 years. Dorothea was past President and secretary of the Waterloo Women's Bowling Association, and was involved in many church activities.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Baskins, of Waverly, Iowa; two sisters, Marjorie Culver of Manley, Iowa and Alice (Bill) Harder of Cedar Falls; her sister-in-law, Marlys Wyatt, of Edina, Minnesota; her brother-in-law, Duane Baskins, of Washington, Iowa; seven nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Wyatt.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Hudson Community Church with interment in Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where there will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Waverly Chapter 353. Visitation also one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the church or the Alzheimer's Association.
