Doris Lee Fleshner

Doris Lee Fleshner, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born November 9, 1937 in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Rolland and Sula (Poe) Turner. Doris married Wayne E. Fleshner on December 30, 1955 in Shell Rock, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2015. Doris was a 1955 graduate of New Hartford High School and she and her husband owned and operated a poultry-buying business. Later, she worked at J.S. Latta and Son, Big Chief Manufacturing, Wagner Manufacturing and Wayne Engineering, all in Cedar Falls. Doris then worked at Cedar Valley Corporation in Waterloo, and retired in 2003 from the American Martyrs Retreat House in Cedar Falls, after 20 years of service. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, painting, reading, sports, gardening, biking, motorcycling and jig saw puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Jeff) Masters, of Nashua, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jordan (Kelsey) Masters of Nashua, Nate (Callie) Masters of Cedar Falls and Isaac Masters of Nashua; a great granddaughter on the way, and a sister, Arlene Flickinger, of Waterloo.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son, Eugene Fleshner; three sisters, Ardith Card, Esther Thomas and Donna Schoch, and three brothers, Russell, Howard and Warren Turner.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016, at New Hartford United Methodist Church, with private burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls at a later date. Visitation will be 2—5:00 p.m. Sunday at the church, and one hour before service at the church. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
