DONALD ROY PETERSON
was born May 5, 1937 at Waverly, Iowa, the son of Albert and Doris M. (Simerson) Peterson. He married Gloria Lee White on February 9, 1957 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1985. Donald worked for the Cedar Falls Parks Department for 15 years, semi-retiring in 2004. He died from skin cancer on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, at 67 years of age.
Donald is survived by his two sons, Don (Dianna) Peterson of Waterloo and Dale (Nikki) Peterson of Katy, Texas; his three daughters, Dawn (Carl) Scott of Tripoli, Iowa, Victoria (Tom) Erdman of Clear Lake, Iowa and Lynn Peterson of Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Albert "Pete" Peterson, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Rich (Marci) Peterson of Cedar Falls and Curtis (Janet) Peterson of Frankfort, Indiana; two sisters, Donna (Bob) White of Independence, Iowa and Mary Havlik of Frankfort, Indiana; and four uncles, Forrest Simerson of Hartford, Iowa, Bob Simerson of Des Moines, Iowa, Roger Simerson of Arizona and Harold Simerson of Boone, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; a brother, John Peterson and a sister, Marlys Mathes
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. His cremated remains will be scattered in Oregon at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
