Donald M Nelson

Donald M. Nelson, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Holiday Lake, Iowa, near Brooklyn, Iowa. He was born November 30, 1934 at Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Merrill L. and Marie (DeJaeger) Nelson. He married Lois J. Gerholdt on December 21, 1955 and they were later divorced. He married Barbara Loeney and they were divorced. He then remarried Lois on July 31, 1992. Donald graduated for Orange Township High School in 1954. He became affiliated with the Carpenters Union and taught carpentry for three years. He worked at John Deere for 26 years and retired in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Nelson, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Larry Nelson and Dan (Connie) Nelson; three daughters, Debra (Wayne) Gleiter, Lori Anne Nelson, Rozmarie R. Nelson all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Gerold (Lynn) Nelson of Waterloo, Paul (Leanne) Nelson of Waterloo, Ronald (Bonnie) Nelson of Waterloo and Dale (Mariann) Nelson of Parkersburg; three sisters, Marilyn (Orville) Schuchhardt of Washburn, Iowa, Barbara (Dale) Petersen of Waterloo and Mary (Garry) Stoelting of Waterloo.  Donald was preceded in death by two infant children, his parents and one sister, Darlene Sells.

Services will be 1:30 pm Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorial may be directed to the family.
